'Little Women' photos on display in Library Gallery

Friday, September 15- Monday, October 16
Location: Archabbey Library Gallery

Hoelscher -for -web _01Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, is hosting an exhibit of photographs called "Little Women" by Andrea Hoelscher.

The exhibit runs from September 15 through October 16.

Hoelscher lives in Ferdinand, IN, and teaches photography at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. In 1994 she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has shown her work in many locations in the U.S. and Europe.

Recent solo shows include "Little Women" at the Huff Gallery, Spalding University, Louisville, KY; and "Inner Architectures" at the New Harmony gallery of Contemporary Art, New Harmony, IN.

The photos in this exhibit feature tiny female figurines in an environment created by outsized household items. The figures loiter, labor, journey and explore their uncanny surroundings. It is a fantastic imaginary world that assumes reality in the context of a photograph. The arrangements are designed to provoke questions about "women's work."

For library hours, call (812) 357-6401 or (800) 987-7311, or visit theArchabbey Library's website: www.saintmeinrad.edu/library/hours/.
