Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

May 6-12, 2016

Last weekend, Brothers Peduru, Simon and Nathaniel participated in the Indianapolis 500 Festival Half Marathon and 5K races as part of the Race for Vocations team (co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana).

On Sunday, at our main meal at lunch we enjoyed colloquium (talking) to celebrated the Solemnity of the Ascension.

On Wednesday, the Chapter gave consent to the petitions of Brothers Peduru, James and William for admission to solemn profession. The professions are scheduled to take place later this summer during Mass on the Solemnity of the Assumption, August 15.

On Wednesday, we observed the one-year anniversary of the death of Father Aelred. In accord with our customary, the Conventual Mass was offered for the repose of his soul.

Brother Peduru offered the Monte Cassino homily this past weekend. See this link for the remaining pilgrimages this May.

We have several hobbies in the monastery. Take a listen to our latest podcast to learn more about this part of our prayer and work.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
