Saint Meinrad Archabbey

A catholic monastery devoted to the teachings of St. Benedict

March 14-20, 2017

We transferred to today, March 20, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Prior John presided and preached at our Eucharist, and we will enjoy colloquium (talking) at dinner later this evening.

Congratulations to Brother Linus (St. Bernard Abbey) and Brother David (Monastere de l'Incarnation [Togo]), who made their priesthood promises onThursday.

Brother Francis posted two new blog posts: Faith, hope, and love and The meaning of the Cross for us today.

The junior monks and our vocations guests celebrated St. Patrick's Day with homebrew beer and snacks on Friday - and Brothers Nathaniel and Jean (our brewers) even dyed the beer green.

We had three men join us this past weekend for our liturgies and meals who are interested in and exploring a monastic vocation. Pray for these and other men who are discerning our way of life.

Brothers Joel and Kolbe were "live" on Facebook sharing about our podcast and also about monastic life. You can watch the video by clicking this link.

Father Colman moderated our second Lenten conference on Wednesday. He prompted Father Meinrad, Father Joseph and Brother Lorenzo with questions about Chapter 49 on the Observance of Lent in the Rule of St. Benedict, and we listened to their reflections. Then, at the end, Father Colman invited the community to offer any follow up reflections based on the panel members' reflections.

Each day the monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey write another page in the long history of Benedictine monks throughout the world. Here are recent events chronicled at Saint Meinrad.
