Introduction

The Human Resources department of Saint Meinrad Archabbey has an opening for a full-time Payroll Accountant. The Payroll Accountant performs all activities necessary to manage and process various payrolls; month-end, year-end, and fiscal year-end reports; and other benefit programs. The Payroll Accountant will also assist with other HR responsibilities as needed.



Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payroll and short-term disability.
  • Provide assistance in the administration of the various benefits, e.g. life insurance, retirement, long-term disability, employee assistance, workers’ compensation, health, etc.
  • Assist in the administration of voluntary benefits.
  • Responsible for all payroll, work study and disability tax activities, including compliance with local, state and federal regulations and filing local, state and federal tax returns (including W2s and 1094C/1095C).
  • Provide direction and answer questions from co-workers regarding payroll, benefits and personnel issues.
  • Responsible for the management of the Blackbaud payroll system.
  • Responsible for the time management system: TimeClock Plus.
  • Flexible Spending Account Plan/Section 125 administration, which includes reimbursements, compliance and government reports.
  • Process activities of the ACH/electronic banking system.
  • Monitor payroll to ensure consistent application of policies and laws and provide feedback to management.
  • Prepare various accounting transactions, documents and special reports for senior management and auditors.
  • Maintain payroll records and histories.
  • Assist with other HR responsibilities as needed.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Must have 2+ years’ experience in a comprehensive payroll administration position.
  • Strong numeric, interpersonal, computer, organizational, communication and reading skills.
  • Ability to work independently, without close supervision.
