Conference on Human Formation: Mental Health Matters

The third biennial Conference on Human Formation will take place April 20-23, 2020, at Saint Meinrad Archabbey, St. Meinrad, IN.

The conference is co-sponsored by Saint Luke Institute and Saint Meinrad Archabbey and its Seminary and School of Theology.

The “Mental Health Matters” conference is designed for formation and vocations personnel as well as diocesan and religious leadership, and aims to help participants better recognize and respond to mental health concerns as they arise in initial and ongoing formation of priests, and men and women religious.

The workshop topics will include dealing with histories of trauma and sexual abuse, how to refer and participate in a candidate’s treatment, addressing intellectual deficits and learning difficulties, internet pornography and online addictions, deciding between counseling and spiritual direction, and more.

Speakers will include national and international experts in psychology and human and spiritual formation. The presenters include Msgr. Stephen Rossetti, PhD, author of numerous books and articles on priestly wellness and spirituality; Rev. David Songy, OFM Cap, PsyD, current president and CEO of Saint Luke Institute, Br. John Mark Falkenhain, OSB, PhD, and Emily Cash, PsyD.

Other speakers include Fr. Denis Robinson, OSB; Michael Day, PsyD; Crystal Taylor-Dietz, PsyD; Sr. Mary Pat Garvin, RSM, PhD; Sr. Jane Becker, OSB, PhD; Michael Pollard, LCSW; and Fr. Peter Marshall, MSW.
