The monks of the Saint Meinrad chant schola will join forces with the professional medieval ensemble Trobár to present the inaugural concert of the Institute for Sacred Music, "As Before, So Evermore: Celebrating 1,000 Years of Sacred Music at Saint Meinrad Archabbey", an evening that tells the tale of sacred musical history from the perspective of Saint Meinrad.
Beginning with our oldest chant manuscript from the 11th century, the program will feature chants found no where else but here and highlight the music that the first generations of monks sang on the Hill in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as well as more recent compositions by monks such as Fr. Columba and Fr. Tobias. This special event is free and open to the public. Please come and support!
