Now in its 31st season, Cantus is recognized as one of the nation’s premier vocal ensembles, celebrated for its signature warmth, blend, and compelling storytelling through music. Known for innovative programming and riveting performances, Cantus moves audiences with repertoire spanning centuries, from the Renaissance to today.

Based in Minneapolis, the ensemble tours nationally and internationally, with appearances at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Tanglewood, and beyond, and has shared its music in Canada, Europe, South America, and Asia. Cantus records with the UK-based Signum Classics label, with recent albums including Into the Light, Alone Together, and Fields of Wonder.

A champion of new and underrepresented music for low voices, Cantus regularly commissions composers and publishes through the Cantus Choral Series in partnership with Graphite Publishing. In 2023, the ensemble received Chorus America’s Alice Parker Fund Award for inclusive and authentic programming. Cantus also leads collaborative concerts, bringing together local choral communities and hosting world-class ensembles such as Chanticleer, The King’s Singers, Sweet Honey in the Rock, and Canadian Brass.

Education is central to their mission, reaching over 5,000 students annually through workshops, residencies, and festivals, including the High School Mentorship Program, the annual Tenor Bass Festival, and the Cantus Composer Competition. Through song and word, Cantus gives voice to shared human experiences, sparking understanding, empathy, and connection.

The program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Parking is available in the Guest House and student parking lots. For more information, contact Krista Hall during business hours at 812-357-6501. For updates on the day of the performance, call 812-357-6611.
