Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, will host the oil paintings of Henderson, KY, artist Terry Rone. The exhibit, titled “Nature’s Palette: Art Inspired by the Earth,” will run from June 2 to July 14.
Rone has had a passion for art since high school, although he didn’t seriously pursue making art until he retired 11 years ago. Working from his home studio in Henderson, his focus has been landscapes and nature with a representational approach. Terry has won many Best of Show awards in regional events.
Rone is enamored with the fleeting beauty of light and shadow playing across the landscape. His work begins with a plein air (outdoor) study to capture a particular moment in time. Back in the studio, the work is completed, sometimes with the aid of photographs, memory, and imagination.
Rone shares the aesthetic of French Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro, who sums up his feeling about landscape painting in this quote: “Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.”
