Many readers have found the Gospel of Mark disturbing because of the way Mark portrays Jesus’ humanity. Mark takes seriously the gospel mandate that Jesus is fully human and fully divine. However, when Jesus manifests his human nature, some find that disturbing. This retreat will focus on the humanity of Jesus as presented in the Gospel of Mark. We will also explore how Mark’s Gospel might challenge our own humanity.
